Mercedes loved art, she studied the life and work of Vincent Van Gogh and Frida Kalho, two of her favorite t-shirts had a quote by him and a picture of her. She also loved the great lakes and the Caribbean; we got married at the beach of lake Michigan and visited few Caribbean cities, here Cartagena (Colombia), she also went to San Juan (Puerto Rico), Cancun (Mexico), and the Florida Keys (US). Mercedes loved Latino culture, she was beautifully 100% fluent in Spanish, she loved dancing to live salsa and knew many songs in Spanish; here one of her favorites, title translates “I was born again” and the verses go “because of your love I was born again…” and “I want to marry you, to stay by your side, to forget my past, I want you to be with me, and to sleep in your arms my sweet heart”
